A friend of mine recently asked me to build a website to promote his music, I say asked me but it's probably fairer to say that I offered my services as soon as he mentioned he was looking at MySpace.com. I hate MySpace and while the idea of it is cool, it's code and look are horrendous! Step up Drupal 6...

For any of you reading this who know me well, you will know that for what seems like an eternity I have been wanting to make a movie cataloging web application. This stems from a few

Not for the faint hearted this, you need a very good understanding of Drupal, Node objects and CCK in order to do this successfully. I thought I would jot down the steps I carried out in order to change my blog nodes from one type to another.

As a web developer who works with Drupal (5 & 6) on a daily basis at work, naturally I am getting excited and intrigued by what Drupal 7 will bring to the table. A colleague of mine at Sift, Dan Slinky has just published www.openslinky.com and wanted a theme for it. I took the challenge and thought I would post my first impressions on working with Drupal 7 for the first time...

This posts is aimed at helping other people interested in using the FIVe3D Flash 3D Engine in Flex. I spent a good few hours trying to figure out why all the tutorials I was following were not working, so hopefully this post will help anyone in the same boat. I only managed to figure this out by diving into the Flex 3 Language Reference and swearing a lot!

While giving my site a facelift (which isn't quite finished yet I know) I thought I would have a little play with CSS3 to see what could be done and I have to say I am impressed and frustrated in equal measure at the moment.

A few months back I decided I would write a module that handled the uploading and display of Unity3D players to Drupal based sites. I must admit I haven't spent long on this since I came up against some pretty tricky file upload issues, on top of that I have been attempting to buy a flat for what seems like forever, so development on this has come to a bit of a stand still.

I love jQuery, it's an amazingly powerful tool but there is one thing that always infuriates me whenever I come to installing a new plugin - inline styles!

Yesterday I spent the day adding a Simple Gallery photo gallery to a clients site. All went surprisingly well considering the site and the gallery was plugged in successfully, the last thing I had to fix was the fact that all the images appeared to be left aligned and I wanted them centered to avoid a nasty black border.

A few weeks back I published a blog post about updating a MAMP installation. It actually proved to be very popular to I thought I would follow it up with a quick run through of getting virtual hosts up and running on MAMP without the need to purchase MAMP Pro. I don't have anything against MAMP Pro, this is just a free way of doing it for users who are prepared to get their hands a little more dirty than others.

After years of switching from platform to platform and language to language, I am starting to make very good progress on my media cataloging application. A brief history....
